What are the advantages of an adjustable piano seat?
Using a conventional chair can cause back pain, impede movement, and shorten your piano sessions due to the discomfort caused. Opting for an adjustable piano bench or stool allows you to adapt to the different people using it, and to grow with your children.
A child learning his first pieces must be well seated in order to remain concentrated for a longer period of time during his learning exercises, the seat must be adapted to his size so as not to hinder his movements, and, very often, an adjustable piano seat is the best solution to accompany him throughout his passion. The piano bench can then grow with him.
Every adult, whether a beginner or an experienced pianist, knows how important seating comfort is. If your piano seat is not well adapted, you may end up with back problems and your piano session will not be pleasant. A less comfortable seat will distract you and you will waste time trying to find a more comfortable position.
The ideal position for a pianist is to be at a height that allows them to form a right angle with their elbows when their hands are on the piano keyboard. And because everyone is different, we often recommend adjustable piano seats. This means that you can have several pianists in the same household, and each one simply needs to adjust the seat to the right height.
For these reasons, the majority of the piano seats offered by Hanlet are adjustable. The comfort offered by the various benches is important: a padded seat, wide enough, and covered with a leather or velvet fabric. The Discacciati 105 Beethoven is a piano seat with a backrest, which is a preferred comfort option for some pianists.
What is the difference between a piano stool and a bench?
The fundamental difference between these two types of piano chairs is stability. Stools with 3 legs are less stable than a bench with four legs. A child, who is more likely to move around a lot in the seat, could be confused by the loss of balance. The advantage of stools is that they take up less space than a bench.
At Hanlet we only offer piano benches. Stability is important in order to be able to use the entire keyboard without loss of balance.
The brands of piano seats offered at Hanlet
Hanlet has selected 4 brands of piano seats that offer comfort, stability and quality materials. Depending on the budget, you will have more or less robust materials, depending on the materials used and the quality of manufacture. Nevertheless, all have been carefully selected to meet your needs.
The Stagg brand offers various options. The Stagg Keb A-10 seat is the cheapest in the range and fits well with portable pianos. Easily transportable, this seat is light and adjustable.
Nevertheless, it only offers 3 possible seat heights: 49, 51 or 53 cm. For a higher budget, you will find for example the Stagg White Satin. Its velvet cushion is very comfortable and the seat height is adjustable from 49 to 59cm.
The ROLAND benches are classic, offering the comfort of a velvet cushion and the solidity of solid wood or oak depending on the model. The ROLAND model RPB-100BK offers a storage compartment for sheet music inside the piano seat, but is not adjustable.
We also offer models from the German brand ANDEXINGER. These High-quality hydraulic benches are often recommended for academies. The reinforced textile cushion will stand up well to the intensive use during repeated piano lessons.
Finally, the Italian brand DISCACCIATI is known for its longevity, comfort, and
quality manufacturing of its various piano seats.
